Its third edition will be dedicated to "The Infinite: the pleasure of Epicurus". For the first time the festival opens to the regional territory touching the municipalities of Recanati and Corinaldo.
"Now in its third edition - recalled the Mayor of Senigallia, Massimo Olivetti - the Festival Epicureo is an event that is increasingly affirming in our city: its ability to speak philosophy, and to do so with the presence and participation of scholars and teachers of undoubted depth, is making this appointment one of the most interesting news of the cultural proposal of our city.
A thank you and a sincere good luck to the Cultural Association "Il Mondo di Epicuro" and Vivere Senigallia that with the patronage of the Regional Council of the Marches and the City of Senigallia, will take us this year to address the theme of Infinity in all its meanings: poetic, astronomical and philosophical".
The program, speaking of Infinity, could only start from Giacomo Leopardi in Recanati. Today, July 20 from 18:00 to 20:00 at the garden of the Liceo Leopardi in Recanati is going to develop the first appointment. Silvano Tagliagambe, recently awarded by President Mattarella the title of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, will address the theme "The river in full and the banks: affectivity, rationality and consciousness in Epicuro and Leopardi".
Marged Trumper, scholar, teacher and singer of classical Indian music of the Hindostan tradition (North of India) will perform a short repertoire of classical Indian singing of the genre thumri. The afternoon will conclude with a dialogue between Epicuro and Leopardi written by Francesca Diano and staged by the theater company "The New Pomegranate".
Wednesday, July 21 back to Senigallia, at the gardens of the School Pascoli. From 18:00 to 20:00 we will talk about Epicurean Publishing in the last 1,900 years. The papyrologist Gianluca Del Mastro will begin, and with his "Working for the Epicureans" he will tell us the stories of the scribes who wrote the papyri of Herculaneum. Then Marcello Baraghini, the publisher of the famous book "millelire" will talk about "The infinite copies of the Letter on the Happiness of millelire".
To conclude, Stefano Bertolini will speak about the "Ecology of Happiness" a book published by ABOCA. From 21:30 to 23:00 Professor Roberto Radice returns to Senigallia, after his memorable speech at the 2019 Festival. He will talk about a philosopher from Senigallia who was so interested in Epicurus: Rodolfo Mondolfo. "Rodolfo Mondolfo and the infinity of the Greeks and Epicurus", this is how it is called his speech.
Thursday, July 22, always in Senigallia at the gardens of the School Pascoli from 18:00 to 20:00 there will be the time of Music and philosophy. Sandro Borzoni and Paolo Molinelli (by Beatlessenigallia) will travel "From the Garden of Athens to Abbey Road".
In collaboration with Fidapa BPW Italy of Senigallia, Federica Rossi will analyze "Epicurean influences on the music of Fabrizio de' Andrè". Giacomo Campanile and Andrea Celidoni will conclude with a concert of covers by the Beatles and Fabrizio de' Andrè. From 21:30 to 23:00 the dance school Nirvana presents "Train for Happiness". Following Francesco Verde with the central theme of the whole Festival: "The infinite in the physics of Epicurus".
Friday, July 23 begins in Corinaldo, at the school center where from 11:00 to 12:00 there will be the inauguration of the murals created by artists Geos, Panic and Tolp. In the afternoon we will return to Senigallia, to the gardens of the School Pascoli. From 18:00 to 20:00 Adriano Calvi (Esa - European Space Agency) will show how to "Observe infinity.
Journey into the cosmic spaces between Gods and dark components of the Universe" in the literal sense of the term. Gianluca Esposto will guide us in the world of celluloid: "Like in the movies, Epicuro al cinema" and Christos Yapijakis will introduce us to "The garden of Athens". From 21:30 to 23:00 the artists Lorenzo Cicconi Massi, Davide Baldoni, Geos, Panic and Tolp will talk about the works of art created for this festival. Then it will be the turn of Professor Massimiliano Biscuso with "Epicurean Influences in the Infinity of Leopardi".
Saturday, July 24 the final is the gardens of the School Pascoli. From 18:00 to 20:00 will start with Franco Campegiani who will present "The Epic of Muzio Terrible". Angela Lombardo will present the poems of the epicurean poet Horace recited by Catia Urbinelli del Melograno. Finally from Cologne Jürgen Hammerstaedt will talk about "The infinite possibilities of the future. The Epicurean Diogenian against the stoic concept of fate and oracles".
From 21:30 to 23:00 will be awarded the Netoip Award of 1,500 euros to for the best thesis on Epicuro won this year by a Greek girl, Eleni Avdoulou, who presented a thesis in German on the papyri of Herculaneum, kept in Naples. And the last speech of the Festival will be entrusted to Emidio Spinelli with "Il piacere nella morale di Epicuro". In case of rain the appointments to the Gardens of the School Pascoli will be held at the theater La Fenice.
