Mario Giacomelli's photos to be exposed in Milan

3' di lettura 09/04/2015 - Once again Mario Giacomelli brings Marches region under the gaze of an international audience, in the largest exhibition of photography ever created, dedicated to Italy. The pictures of the Senigallia maestro show the landscape of Marches in seven photographs.

A trip in the Belpaese through the images of the most important Italian photographers: the largest photo exhibition ever dedicated to Italy in two separate but related moments: INSIDE (from March 21th to 21th June 2015: Italian photographers;) and OUT (from July 1st to the 27th of September 2015: the photographers of the world). The exhibition, conceived to be a single initiative articulated in two moments, provides the public with 600 images of the most important Italian and international authors.

The event promoted and produced by the City of Milan - Cultura, Palazzo della Ragione, Civita, Contrasto and GAmm Giunti, by Giovanna Calvenzi and with a stage project by Peter Bottazzi, after the private exhibitions dedicated to Sebastião Salgado and Walter Bonatti, continues its program at the Palazzo della Ragione Fotografia, with the new exhibition space entirely dedicated to photography in Piazza dei Mercanti – a space that was inagurated in June 2014 and that is located a few steps away from Piazza Duomo.

The exhibition is part of “Expo in the City”, the schedule of initiatives that will accompany the cultural life of the city during the first half of the Universal Exposition. “Italy Inside Out” traces the history of the nation through the watchful eyes of the most decisive artists of the last century. While Henri Cartier-Bresson or Herbert List, in the thirties, and later Robert Capa and David Seymour, have documented the Second World War and the postwar period, the Italian authors have followed the transformation of Italy from the fifties to the present day .

For the first time, “Italy Inside Out” features the work of the great masters who, at different times and with subjective experiences, have seized the main aspects and the distinctive features of this beautiful country and its people.

Their research focused on the beauty of the landscapes, the development of cities, the stereotypes, the way of life, but also on the hopes, dreams and dramas of Italian recent history. A journey - through time, places, events and facts - that constitute the plot for a reflection on what Italy and Italians are and have been. The suggestion of the trip will also be recreated by the particular arrangement of Peter Bottazzi who conceived a long convoy of several cars that host, inside them, some private collections of each author who interprets the sights of Italy that the most he appreciated and was inspired by.

These are the names of the artists whose pictures will be exposed at “Italy Inside Out”: Gianni Berengo Gardin Massimo Vitali, Gabriele Basilico, Mario Giacomelli, Luigi Ghirri Mimmo Jodice, Letizia Battaglia Silvia Camporesi, Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour, Alexei Titarenko, Bernard Plossu, Isabel Muñoz, John Davies and others.

The public will be offered the opportunity to buy an integrated tickets that will give entrance both the two legs of the exposition at the special price of 18 Euros.
